University of Delaware Official Student Handbook 1995-1996 Living on Campus Use of Residence Hall Lounges Residence hall lounges are provided for social, recreational, and educational activities. Residents are expected to assume responsibility for their care and security and to control the behavior of guests who use lounges. Each hall government regulates the use of the hall lounge to ensure that all residents have an opportunity to use it. Usually, outside student groups are not permitted to use residence halls for their functions. When hall governments decide to permit such use, special criteria apply. Event sponsors must submit a Lounge Use Request Form to the Hall President at least two weeks prior to the event. Events must end by 11:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 2:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. The event sponsor and a designated staff member (e.g., the duty RA) must complete an inventory of the condition of the lounge prior to and following the event. The sponsoring group is responsible for any damage, theft, or housekeeping problems. Sponsors must also ensure that alcohol is not present at the event unless expressly permitted.
