Official Student Handbook 1994-1995 University Services for Students Reading Study Center The Reading Study Center offers selected students the opportunity to be trained in the remedial method used in its classes and, after completing a practicum, employment as a teacher's assistant in the program. The classes provided are for students from the community, in grades 1 through 12, experiencing difficulty with reading, spelling and writing. During the school year these classes are held between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. and, for six weeks in the summer, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Selected students not only have the opportunity to be paid to help others, but can also learn a successful remedial method for future use as teachers.
