University Services for Students
Services for Students with Disabilities

   Services for Students with Disabilities at the University of
Delaware are designed to provide equal educational opportunities for
physically disabled students and to encourage independence and full
participation in University programs. Whether permanently or
temporarily disabled, students can avail themselves of a variety of
support services provided by the Office of the Dean of Students which
include: information and referral assistance throughout the
University's preadmission process; specialized orientation tours of
campus; assistance in obtaining priority status for scheduling;
informal counseling; temporary loans of cassette tape recorders and
keys to lifts and elevators; assistance in locating readers,
notetakers, and tutors; liaison with faculty, professional staff and
outside agencies; assistance in locating attendents for ongoing and
occasional needs; and training in and use of specialized equipment
(e.g., Kurzweil reading machine, talking calculators, talking computer
terminal, braille terminal, large screen computers, closed-circuit TV
magnifier, and Visualtek computer equipment).
