Academic Support Service Programs
The NUCLEUS Program recruits, retains and graduates academically talented underrepresented students
majoring in chemistry, biochemistry, biological sciences and related disciplines and assists them in
entering into graduate and professional programs and science-related professions.
The NUCLEUS Program is funded by a grant from the
Howard Hughes Medical Institute’s Undergraduate Biological Sciences Education Program
to the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry
at the University of Delaware.
The NUCLEUS Program provides various services and opportunities to assist students academically,
encourage professional development, and promote academic excellence.
The University of Delaware, College of Arts and Science and the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry
are committed to providing equitable services that ensure the academic and professional success of all students.
The NUCLEUS Program enables students to realize their academic and career goals.
Concentrating on the fundamental components of counseling, advising, mentoring and tutoring, NUCLEUS provides
comprehensive academic enrichment services, leadership opportunities and professional development. The NUCLEUS
staff collaborates with faculty and staff in various departments, as well as administrators of other campus-based
academic support service programs, to provide the following:

- Peer Mentoring Program
- Networking opportunities through Physician and
Dental mentoring programs - Lasting Links Peer Mentoring Program
- Tutorial Services through the Academic Services Center
- Communtiy Outreach Opportunities
- Freshman Seminar Series
- Research Apprenticeship Program
- Summer Session research scholarships through
HHMI Undergraduate Research Scholars Program - Assistance in Securing Financial Aid
