Graduate Program

Interns can continue on-campus at the University of Delaware following the completion of the internship and complete a Master of Science Degree in nutrition. This M.S. program enables students to pursue their interests through an individualized program of study with either a thesis or non-thesis option. Both options include a core of required credits in nutrition and research methods, after which students work with an advisor to develop a customized elective program that fulfills the remainder of the program credits.

Areas of potential program specialization include nutrition science, nutrition education, community nutrition, and management of food and nutrition services. A variety of courses within the department and across the university provide exceptional opportunities for tailoring the degree to the student's interests.

Admission requirements include the following:

  1. Undergraduate cumulative index 2.75
  2. Cumulative index in major field: 3.00 (thesis option), 2.75 (non-thesis option)
  3. GRE scores (verbal and quantitative): 1050 (thesis option), 1000 (non-thesis option)

Students who are currently enrolled in the internship and who wish to continue at the University of Delaware for a Master’s degree will be considered for the Master’s program in human nutrition upon receipt of their completed graduate school application. The application can be completed online by visiting the home page for the Office of Graduate Studies. There are opportunities for on-campus paid graduate teaching assistantships in the Master’s Program.
