United States Olympic Committee
Sports Physiologist
Brad DeWeese is the Sport Physiologist for the United States Olympic Committee’s Winter Division. Located at the Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, NY, Brad supervises the physical preparation of athletes competing in Bobsled, Skeleton, Luge, Freestyle Ski, Biathlon, and Canoe/ Kayak. In addition, Brad supervises the athlete monitoring and sport science program at the Lake Placid OTC. Brad holds a B.S. in Sport Management with a concentration in exercise physiology and a minor in coaching from Western Carolina University, a MHS in Nutrition & Dietetics from Western Carolina University, and Doctorate of Education with an emphasis in elite sport training theory and coach development from North Carolina State University.
Prior to his arrival at the USOC, Brad served as the Director of Exercise & Sport Science, Co-Director of the Human Performance Laboratory, and Director of Strength & Conditioning at UNC Asheville. In his dual capacity, Brad created a dedicated sport science curriculum that became recognized as a USA Weightlifting Collegiate Training Center in 2010. In conjunction with his work at Asheville, Brad has previous experience as a coaching educator and sport scientist for USA Track & Field, USA Weightlifting, and USA Canoe/ Kayak.
Brad is a certified USATF Level 2 Coach in sprints, hurdles, and relays, USATF coaching educator, USAW Club Coach, USAW Sport Performance Coach, and holds the CSCS from the NSCA.
