History Major
(30 credit hours)
The thirty-hour major includes the following requirements:

HIST101 [or *HIST 103] AND HIST102 [*or HIST104] *applies to students matriculating in fall 2009 and later.

HIST268, Seminar for History Majors *

History course before 1700. List of
Courses Qualifying for Pre-1700 Requirement

One course in Asian, African, Latin American, or
Middle Eastern History. List of Courses Qualifying for Non-Western History Requirement
- Fifteen credits at the 300 level or above. At least one of
these courses must be a seminar at the 400 level or above
(excluding HIST 464, 468, HIST491, HIST493 and Independent Study).
Note: All History majors are encouraged to take HIST268 in their sophomore year, or at the latest, during the junior year and before they take a 400-level seminar.
* HIST 268 does not count for any other history requirements.
Exceptions to any of the stated requirements may, in special circumstances, be granted upon petition to the Undergraduate Studies Committee.
