Rudi Matthee

 
 

Rudolph (Rudi) Matthee teaches Middle Eastern history, with a research focus on early modern Iran and the Persian Gulf.

Dr. Matthee is the John and Dorothy Munroe Professor of History at the University of Delaware.   He received his BA and MA in Persian and Arabic language and literature from University of Utrecht, The Netherlands.  He studied in Tehran  (1976-1977), and in Cairo (1981-83), and received his Ph.D. in Islamic Studies 1991 from the University of California, Los Angeles.
