UD History Education Alumna Named Delaware State History Teacher of the Year
Holly Golder, who graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in History Education in 2004, has just been named as the Delaware State History Teacher of the Year. Holly teaches eighth grade United States History and AP Psychology at Cab Calloway School of the Arts in Wilmington, Delaware.
She was selected based on a portfolio consisting of letters of support, a lesson plan using primary sources, and an original extended instructional plan. Her portfolio will now be evaluated for the National History Teacher of the Year award by a panel of judges comprising of the previous national winner, renowned historians, professors, and teachers.
As the 2014 Delaware State History Teacher of the Year, Holly will receive a prize package including a certificate of recognition, a $1,000 award, a collection of classroom resources to be presented in her honor to the Cab Calloway School of the Arts's library, and the opportunity to participate in a Gilder Lehrman Institute summer seminar in 2015.
