EXAMINATIONS: The midterm will be a take-home essay exam covering class lectures, readings and films during the first  six weeks of the course. Essays should be typed and if quotations from films/readings are cited, they should be footnoted (paranthesis style is acceptable.) The midterm counts 45% of the grade. A two hour final exam will be given on December 13, 1999 from 7-9 p.m. The exam will consist of two parts: part 1 will cover the films seen since the beginning of the course; part 2 will ask students to select and discuss a film which they think reflects the spirit of the 1990s. Details forthcoming.
REQUIRED FILMS AND READINGS: Students are responsible for all films listed in the syllabus. They are expected to take notes on these films, recording the names of key characters and crucial scenes and to incorporate such information in their exams. Students are also REQUIRED to read the assigned books and essays and incorporate information in their exams.
STUDENT BEHAVIOR: Students are required to attend class, which includes viewing the films. Reading, sleeping, and chatting with friends is NOT acceptable behavior. Such infractions will be punished according to the regulations set out in the University Handbook On Dishonesty and Behavior.
