Overview

The Human Performance Lab at the University of Delaware contains nine individual research laboratories. Faculty in the HPL enjoy a collaborative enviroment with expertise drawn from the disciplines of Sports Medicine, Biomechanics, Motor Control and Physiology.

Graduate Training

A Master of Science (MS) degree can be earned in the Department of Health, Nutrition & Exercise Sciences (HNES). Within Exercise Science are MS concentrations in Biomechanics, Exercise Physiology and Motor Control. More information on these MS degrees can be found at the HNES website. Potential applicants are encouraged to become well informed about your concentration of interest and will benefit from a good understanding of the research topics in the labs in which you would like to obtain your training. Note that whereas your acceptance to the program depends on your credentials, several factors determine the Department's ability to offer financial support through a Graduate Assistantship.

Students can earn the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree through UD's interdisciplinary Biomechanics and Movement Science Program (BMSC) . Although the program's title reflects Biomechanics interests, this program serves topic areas including Biomechanics, Motor Control, Applied Physiology, Exercise Physiology, Motor Behavior and Applied Anatomy. Many of the faculty in Exercise Science are part of the BMSC program and you should contact faculty with active research that matches your career objectives.
