Biography:
I have been interested in the Arctic environment/processes for many years now. Growing up in Minnesota has influenced my preference for the outdoors and cold weather. My travels north began in the summer of 2002 with my family packed in an RV driving around southern Alaska. The following summer I traveled to Alaska to participate in the Juneau Icefield Research Program for 8 weeks. Summer 2004, I studied in Svalbard for 6 weeks as part of the Research for Undergraduates (REU) Program funded by the National Science Foundation. August 2005, I joined University of Delaware professor Frederick Nelson’s team of researchers working on the CALM II (Circumpolar Active Layer Monitoring) Program studying permafrost in Alaska. As part of Dr. Nelson’s research team, I spent ten weeks in Alaska this summer (2006) researching for my Master’s thesis and continuing work on the CALM II Project.
