• FREC 480--GIS in Natural Resource Management. 4 credits.

Sophomore/Junior-level class with intensive hands-on lab training in ArcView. This course is offered both fall semester and winter session. Enrollment limit is 18/section. Class has one lecture/week plus supervised labs in the Townsend GIS/CAD lab.

• FREC 682--Spatial Analysis of Natural Resources.  3 credits.

Graduate-level class covers spatial logic and feature manipulation, data development (on-screen digitizing, import, some GPS), image processing and spatial econometrics. Intensive hands-on lab training in GRASS 4.2. Spring semester; 3 credits. Class meets Thursday evenings, 6-9 PM in the Townsend GIS/CAD lab.

FREC/GEOG 667--GIS Technical Consultant.  2 credits.
Students with prior GIS experience serve as peer consultants for student project teams in one of the introductory GIS courses: FREC 480, GEOG 471/671 or GEOG 372.  This course is not strictly software-specific, and may offer consultants exposure to alternative GIS packages.  The consultant assists the student team in formulating assigned GIS projects into logical sequences of analytic steps, develops his/her own new GIS project for a student team, and presents a seminar on that project.  Townsend GIS/CAD lab.
