Government Information Sharing Project: a great one-stop data site  with census, economic, and   government data. The  data are  most county level. Census Look-Up: a Census Bureau supported site with 1990 Census data on the state, county, and smaller levels. County and City Data Books: a site with the 1988 and 1994 County and city Data Books on-line.
Statistical Abstract of the United States:A comprehensive overview of U.S. statistics on government, education, population, banking, industry, and economic indicators. 1999 World Factbook: the CIA's site for data on every country in the world. National Center for Education Statistics:  The 2000 Digest of Education Statistics and other resources, including Fast Facts
American Demographics Magazine: home of the American Demographics magazine. It contains some past articles on consumer trends for businesses. Population Reference Bureau: a great organization dedicated to making population data and issues understandable to the general public Current Population Survey: a joint survey of BLS and the Census Bureau. It is done monthly with a annual spring special tabulation with state data.
Federal Stats: The Federal
Interagency Council on Statistical Policy maintains this site to provide easy access to the full range of statistics and information produced by Federal Agencies.
Bureau of Economic Analysis: the home page of the BEA which has lots of data on the economy for the U.S., states, and counties. Bureau of Labor Statistics: 
the home page of the BLS which has lots of data on the labor force for the U.S.
Economic Research Service of the USDA:a site with data and reports on agriculture. National Opinion Research Center:  operates out tothe University of Chicago and operates the General Social Survey General Social Survey: a NSF funded survey of the U.S. population that has continuity back to 1976.  In contains data on occupational prestige, health, racism, sexual activity, and other social issues.  You can get data form the survey.
