Policy Name: Mail Postage Chargebacks to Departments

To charge departments and administrative units for mail processed through the U.S. Postal Services to effect unit accountability for postage expense.
Departments and administrative units who have 25 or more pieces of outgoing letter size mail per Campus Mail pickup will be charged for those pieces. Additionally, any single item of flat rate size mail will be charged to the department.
The above criteria may be periodically changed based upon prevailing budget conditions.
Each unit administrator of a department shall provide, via e-mail or through campus mail, authorization to cover mail usage. The authorization should include the name of an administrator and purpose code to be charged. This request will be kept on file and does not need to be renewed unless there is a change in the purpose code.
