  1. POLICY STATEMENT
    The University of Delaware observes the following holidays:

    1. New Year’s Day
    2. Martin Luther King Day
    3. Memorial Day
    4. Juneteenth (June 19th)
    5. Independence Day
    6. Labor Day
    7. General Election Day (even numbered years)
    8. Thanksgiving Day
    9. Friday following Thanksgiving Day
    10. December Holiday Break (to be announced annually)
  2. POLICY STANDARDS AND PROCEDURESWith the exception of the December Holiday Break, holidays falling on a Saturday are observed on the preceding Friday. Holidays falling on a Sunday are observed on the following Monday.

    If a holiday falls within a scheduled vacation period, the employee is entitled to an additional day of vacation to compensate for the holiday.  A non-exempt employee who works on a holiday will be paid for the hours worked at time and one-half in addition to the regular pay.  The holiday information is updated annually and inserted in the Administrative Calendar http://events.udel.edu/calendar/month?event_types[]=8251 .
