Policy Name: Professional and Salaried Staff Bereavement

Employees may be excused from work with pay upon request up to five consecutive working days following the death of a member of the immediate family. Immediate family includes husband, wife, father, mother, sister, brother, son, daughter and parent-in-law.

For death of a close relative not in the immediate family, one day of absence with pay may be approved upon request to the employees immediate supervisor.

Extension of bereavement leave may be requested and utilized with the approval of the supervisor concerned and the Office of Labor Relations. Such situations will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
