Policy Name: Benefits for Limited Term Faculty and Limited Term Professional Employees

  1. PURPOSE

    For the purpose of this policy, "limited term" faculty and professional employees* are defined as persons who are hired without expectation or commitment for continued employment. The designation of "limited term" status is made by the Dean of the College or the head of the administrative unit at the time of appointment and is reserved for those employees who will be at the University for one year or less in a visiting or temporary capacity. (Note: The source of funds do not dictate the conditions of employment; i.e., tenured, term renewable or terminal.) These individuals are appointed for a limited period of time or on a temporary basis. Benefits for these individuals are as follows:

  2. PROCEDURES

    1. Limited Term Faculty and Limited Term Professional - A visiting employee who comes from another institution to the University for a specified period of time. The expectation is that the individual will return to the home institution at the end of the appointment period at the University of Delaware.

      5. University I.D. card which will provide access to all facilities and associated privileges.

* Limited Term Employees are expected to perform their duties for a year or less in a visiting or temporary capacity.
