Policy Name: Definitions of Full-Time Employees, Part-Time Employees, and Temporary Miscellaneous Wage Employees

  1. PURPOSE

    The definition of full-time employees, part-time employees, and temporary miscellaneous wage employees who are appointed either as tenured, term renewable or terminal employees.

  2. POLICY

    1. Full-Time Employees

      Full-Time Employees are those employees occupying positions approved as 100% FTE in the University Budget including research.

    2. Part-Time Employees

      Part-Time Employees are those employees occupying positions approved as less than 100% FTE in the University Budget including research.

    3. Miscellaneous Wage Employees

      Miscellaneous wage employees are those employees not occupying approved line items in the University Budget including research who are hired without expectation for permanent employment and are paid on an hourly basis from departmental or unit miscellaneous wage funds.

      No individual miscellaneous wage employee may normally work in excess of 1,000 hours in any fiscal year.

    4. Terms of Employment for Full-Time and Part-Time Employees

      1. Continuing: Employees hired to perform their duties for more than one year.

      2. Limited Term: Employees expected to perform their duties for a year or less in a visiting or temporary capacity.
