Policy Name: Sales and Solicitations on Campus

To outline the policies regarding solicitation on the University of Delaware campus.
Sales/solicitations includes solicitation of information, membership, admissions, charges for events, donations, and any funds derived from programs and services rendered or sale of goods. This includes, but is not necessarily restricted to, any solicitations conducted via mail, telephones, newsletters, personal visits, or electronic means.
Off-campus individuals and firms are not permitted to conduct sales/solicitations on campus except when sponsored by a college, division, department or other official administrative or service unit, a recognized employee organization, or a recognized student organization, and provided the sponsored individual or firm agrees to observe the policies and procedures governing sales and solicitations on campus.
All off-campus individuals and firms must obtain the approval of the Director of Procurement Services for permission to conduct sales/solicitations of employees.
Permission to conduct sales/solicitation of students must be authorized by the Associate Director of the Student Centers for Event Services or the Assistant Director of Residence Life for Residence Education. Policies concerning sales/solicitations by students are described in the Student Center's Policies and the Residence Life Sales and Solicitations Policies.
Sales/solicitations on a "door-to-door" basis in University facilities is prohibited.

The use of University facilities solely for fund-raising purposes shall be limited. Certain fund-raising activities are regulated by the State of Delaware, including raffles, lotteries and other games of chance. For student fundraisers, see the Student Center's Policies.
The sale of food that is not commercially prepared and packaged is prohibited by state law. Requests to sell food on campus must be approved by the Associate Vice President of Administrative Services. For policies regarding Vending of Food and Beverages please see Policy 5-20.
Authorization to sell on campus does not constitute an endorsement by the University of either the product sold or the service rendered.
Failure to comply with the sales/solicitation policy will result in both the University sponsor and the individual or firm involved being held responsible, and the individual or firm will lose the privilege to conduct future sales/solicitations on campus.
