Did you know that there are approximately 1.5 million people in the US who experience a traumatic brain injury each year and that more than 50,000 people die from the injury…there are more than 11,000 new cases of spinal injury per year…there are 700,000+ new and recurrent cases of stoke (all ages, both genders) each year? Neurological diseases and traumas significantly impact the sufferers as well as their families, friends and society. Understanding the pathophysiology underlying these various diseases as well as appropriate interventions is imperative to achieving positive outcomes.

Program Overview

Neuroscience for Healthcare Professionals is a comprehensive distance learning program incorporating both video (CD-ROM) and on-line instructional components provided on a password-protected course site. The program includes selected neurological conditions from the perspective of neurosurgical/neurotrauma experts. Detailed information on epidemiology, anatomy/physiology/pathophysiology, and treatment modalities are provided through the various lectures and case studies. The program is composed of ten (10) content sections consisting of one to five modules per section. Evaluation of content understanding and application is demonstrated by successful completion of an on-line post test.

The benefits of enrollment in this program include:
