DRC and the University of Delaware’s Institutional Repository: A Valuable Combination

The DRC is pleased to announce it’s participation in the University of Delaware’s Institutional Repository, or D-Space project. The Institutional Repository Project began in 2004 with six pilot “communities” or participant groups, including the DRC. Upon completion of a successful test pilot within the University at large, the web site for UD’s Institutional Repository went “live” to the International Internet community on April 18, 2005.

The Repository offers access to full text versions of original research documents. In addition to providing full text of the documents, the database allows for full text searching capabilities. This function enables users anywhere in the world with Internet access to search for DRC publications using an author’s name, part or all of a title or any segment of the document’s text. As a result of this project, research conducted by DRC staff over the years will be made accessible to the rest of the disaster research community in an unprecedented way.
