DRC
and the University of Delaware’s Institutional Repository:
A Valuable Combination
The DRC is pleased to announce
it’s participation in the University of Delaware’s
Institutional Repository, or D-Space project. The Institutional
Repository Project began in 2004 with six pilot “communities”
or participant groups, including the DRC. Upon completion
of a successful test pilot within the University at large,
the web site for UD’s Institutional Repository went
“live” to the International Internet community
on April 18, 2005.
The Repository offers access
to full text versions of original research documents. In addition
to providing full text of the documents, the database allows
for full text searching capabilities. This function enables
users anywhere in the world with Internet access to search
for DRC publications using an author’s name, part or
all of a title or any segment of the document’s text.
As a result of this project, research conducted by DRC staff
over the years will be made accessible to the rest of the
disaster research community in an unprecedented way. To access
