SESSION FIVE:

DESCRIPTION: Topics addressed included the impact of international and cross-national studies on the field of disaster research. Panelists discussed the challenges, barriers, and benefits to these types of collaborative studies; in addition to future efforts that should be made regarding the pursuit of cross-national studies. More specifically, how America can expand its research agenda to actively incorporate international relations.

DESCRIPTION: This session was dedicated to the discussion and analyzation of training new researchers. Conference attendees discussed challenges and changes in the approach to training methods, including preparation for inter-disciplinary work and funding issues.
