Bio

Since graduating from William & Mary, Yvonne has worked in humanitarian emergency assistance and post-conflict recovery for the last 13 years - mainly with the United Nations on the Balkans, in Asia, West and East Africa, the West Bank as well as at UN headquarters in New York. Her assignments have included work with UNHCR in Bosnia, OCHA after the 2004 tsunami in Sri Lanka and the 2005 Pakistan earthquake, WFP during the droughts in Somalia and Kenya in 2006-7 and with UNDP during the 2009 IDP crisis in Pakistan.

While pursuing a PhD in Disaster Management at UD, Yvonne hopes to develop a practical model that will help make community participation an integral component in disaster management.
