Jennifer LazoGraduate Research Assistant BioJennifer Lazo joined the Disaster Science and Management program as a Masters student in the fall of 2011. She received a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Southern California in 2009. After graduation she worked for the Los Angeles Region of the American Red Cross through the Americorps program. Working as a partnership specialist, she trained non-profit and county government groups in shelter management, represented the Red Cross at a local and county level, and participated in a variety of disaster responses. During the summer of 2012 she interned with the International Response Operations Center of the American Red Cross at their national headquarters in Washington, DC. As a graduate research assistant, Jennifer has conducted interviews and focus groups for the Delaware Nursing Home Study, and facilitated a planning group session during the State of Delaware Conference on Nursing Home Preparedness. Her thesis will examine how different stakeholders involved in disaster preparedness and response frame disability issues. |
