Graduate Research Assistant
Erik Archibald is a master's student in the Disaster Science and Management program at the University of Delaware. He holds a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Brigham Young University. Erik served in his hometown as a firefighter in rural Pennsylvania and was an active leader in local Red Cross disaster services while attending BYU. He has spent two summers working on sheltering and evacuation decision modeling. He did this as an intern doing nuclear terrorism response research at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and as an intern doing chemical release consequence modeling for the Nevada National Security Site. He is currently a research assistant at the Disaster Research Center. His research interests include transportation, civil infrastructure systems, CBRNE consequences and protective actions, and the interactions between nature, engineered systems and communities during disaster.
