Career and Major Decisions
Learn About Yourself - Interests
Interests are how you like to spend your time and what activities you enjoy. Think about hobbies you have had, sports or clubs in which you’ve been involved, classes you’ve enjoyed, etc. You can also take self-assessments to more clearly articulate your interests. For example, following are three different websites that contain self-assessments related to your interests. You can take the assessments online and get your feedback directly.
Self-Directed Search (SDS)
Focus Career Planning System
O*NET Interest Profiler
You may also take more sophisticated interest inventories that require a trained professional to interpret the results. If you would like to do that, please contact CCSD to schedule an appointment with a counselor.
Remember: Career exploration and development is a very complex process. You may need assistance exploring any of these pieces and/or integrating all of this information and figuring out how it relates to majors and careers. Please contact CCSD to schedule an appointment for further assistance.
Also, remember that your values, interests, and abilities are likely to change over time. As we said, this is a journey, and it may take you places you never imagined!
