Sociology

Sociology focuses on human behavior in the context of culture and society. Applying the methods of the social sciences, it examines social systems, behaviors, institutions, relationships, communities and societies.

The undergraduate program in sociology is organized around six major options. The pre-graduate option is designed for students preparing for advanced study in the discipline. A social welfare option is available for students interested in work in the various types of positions available in public and private social welfare agencies. The health services option helps to prepare students for careers in the health care system. Data analysis is the ideal option for students wishing to enter the work field with computer-based skill or for students considering graduate or professional school. Students considering a law-related career might be interested in the law and society option. And the liberal arts option provides the student with a general undergraduate degree.

Interested students are invited to contact Dr. Jeffery Davidson, 322 Smith Hall, or call 831-2581.
