The transition from student to employee brings with it certain
responsibilities in terms of professional conduct. The National
Association of Colleges and Employers has developed a statement that outlines many of these expectations. While some of these are good
common sense, it is important to recognize that your conduct in relation
to employers may have long-term effects on your career and on the
relationship that employers have with the University of Delaware.
- When you post your resume for an employer and are accepted for an
interview you should fulfill that commitment.
- When you have signed up for an interview you must make every
effort to meet that commitment.
- When you accept an offer of a job or internship, you should
fulfill that obligation. Should your plans change you need to contact the
employer and discuss your situation.
- Once you have accepted an offer from an employer, you should cease
further interviewing.
These items are discussed in greater detail in the Career Guide. Failure
to meet these expectations may result in suspension of your participation
in the Blue Hen Jobs system. Such suspension will be in place until a
meeting with a Career Services Representative occurs and a satisfactory
resolution is reached.
