Latin American Studies

The Latin American Studies Program is interdisciplinary and provides students with training in the Spanish language and literature as well as Latin American history. Additionally, students are educated in politics, geography, anthropology, and Portuguese. Because of the broad education that students receive in the program, many career opportunities are available to students in this major. Because of their linguistic training and comprehensive knowledge of Latin America, graduates may seek employment in government, including foreign service, international banking and business, and non-governmental organizations that work extensively in Latin America. Students who graduate from the Latin American Studies Program are also well prepared to attend graduate level programs in this or in related disciplines.

Interested students should contact Professor Cynthia Schmidt-Cruz at 325 Smith Hall, or call 302-831-0439.
