Human Development & Family Studies
Early Childhood Development & Education
Human Services (Concentrations: Clinical Services or Administration & Family
Policy)
The department offers two undergraduate majors:
Early Childhood Development and Education and Human Services.
The Early Childhood Development and Education major is designed for
students who plan on working with young children in inclusive school, family,
and institutional settings. Certification options allow students to pursue
careers as teachers of children birth to second grade and in early intervention
for children with disabilities. The Human Services major offers two
concentrations: Clinical Services and Administration and Family
Policy. The Clinical Services concentration prepares students
for careers in human services, prevention, and family support programs.
It is designed for students who want "hands on" practical experiences
in the field, culminating in a clinical internship. The Administration
and Family Policy concentration emphasizes program development, management,
advocacy, and social policy. Students enter careers or graduate study in
public administration, community development and community psychology, family
policy and family studies, family law, and social work. Interested students
are invited to contact the department office, 111 Alison West, call 831-6500,
or visit the department's web site at http://www.udel.edu/ifst.
