Agricultural Education
Agriculture Education provides students with an opportunity to gain a broad understanding and professional preparation in the areas of Animal and Food Sciences; Plant and Soil Sciences; Food Science; Engineering Technology; Entomology and Wildlife Conservation; Resource Economics; Agribusiness; Natural Resource Management, and Biotechnology. Students develop and practice their leadership skills through participation in FFA activities and other student organizations. Majors take a variety of courses to develop their technical knowledge and prepare them for teacher certification.
High school agricultural education teacher.
Cooperative Extension agent. Nature educator. Sales representative.
Corporate Trainer. Public relations specialist. These careers and more are
shared by many Agricultural Education alumni. With a solid
background in agriculture with an emphasis on teaching and
communication, Agricultural Education graduates are
extremely employable. While some choose to enter the traditional
teaching field, many choose other paths related to education, marketing,
and sales. Still others pursue graduate programs in education or a
specific discipline within agriculture. Whatever your goal,
we encourage you to participate in job-search workshops and career days,
develop your communication skills, do internships, and learn to network
with employers.
