Jeff Palko '78.

Describe your current position and what led to your job.

My current position is Staffing Manager for the Rollins Corp. I currently interview all potential candidates for commercial sales, residential sales, branch management and mid to upper level management positions for four companies that make up the Rollins Family of Business: Western Pest, Orkin, Waltham, and IFC. After spending my first year in commercial sales, I was offered a new management opportunity with Western as staffing manager which has grown to 4 companies over 15 yrs.

What has been the most rewarding/challenging moment in your career?

I have spent the last 15 years of my career helping other people gain employment and good career opportunities with our organization. I have had the pleasure of working with a number of Universities in helping educate students about career positions, interviewing and resumes.

What is the best career advice you have received?

Do what you love to do and it will never seem like work.

What would you recommend to someone interested in working in your field?

Be patient, persistent. Never judge a company by preconceived ideas. Check it out thoroughly before you pass up what might be the best opportunity.

What skills are necessary or what prepared you the most for your career?

I am in the people business, every day interactions, problem solving, listening to others help propel me to my successful career- persistence, drive, energy to succeed and the ability to help others.
