Describe your current position and what led to your job.

Currently I manage the food service and medical nutrition therapy for Union Hospital. My goal was to obtain dietitian credentialing and have always enjoyed food service. These two objectives led to a management position in food service as well as nutrition.

What has been the most rewarding/challenging moment in your career?

We implemented a spoken menu for our patients which involved the development and implementation of dietary software to support this service. This project took well over a year to implement and has brought the most rewards to my career.

What is the best career advice you have received?

Recognize your niche in a career and stick with it..

What would you recommend to someone interested in working in your field?

To be involved in a variety of food service applications to be well versed in all aspects of a food service operation.

What skills are necessary or what prepared you the most for your career?

Human resource management is the essential element for success. Secondly, I would say to stay current with technological advances.

What professional associations have aided in your professional development?

I am a member of the American Dietetic Association, and participate also with Premier purchasing group.
