The Slide Library

With our new emphasis on building digital collections, circulation of slides from the Visual Resources Collection has been discontinued. Instructors who have borrowed materials from the Slide Library in the past are encouraged to contact the staff of the Visual Resources Collection for assistance in making the transition to a digital teaching environment.

Organization of the Collection

Slides of Western art from about 1000 CE to the present are generally arranged according to object type: Painting (including drawings), Graphics (prints), Photography, Sculpture, Architecture, Decorative Arts, and Manuscripts. Earlier Western art and most non-Western art is generally grouped according to the broad culture, region, or period in which a work was produced (e.g., Ancient Egyptian, Byzantine, African, Chinese). In addition, there are special sections for didactic and contextual materials (e.g., Architectural Diagrams, Maps, Exhibitions, Theory).
