He also received several honorary degrees: an MA from Princeton (1866), Ph.D. from Lafayette College (1879), and a LL.D. from Ursinus College (1895). Student activities, such as literary societies, athletics, and The Review (the student newspaper), grew in number and popularity during his term. In 1889, as a result of the increased importance of team sports, especially football, blue and gold were adopted as the schools official colors. President Raub was also committed to establishing standards for secondary schools throughout Delaware to ensure the proper preparation of Delaware students for entry into Delaware College. Raub Hall, named in his honor in 1960, stands on the corner of Main Street and North College Avenue. More about President Albert N. Raub: |
