Speaker: Bruce Stanley DuPont Experimental Station Title: Creating Statistical Tools for Customers Abstract: There are widely used formulas, such as Abbott's formula, for removing the effect of background or natural response from Dose-response curves. There are also adjustments for variable amounts of exposure to a treated substrate or stimulus. This presentation will review methods to remove these uncertainties from estimates of dose-response curves, and will present formulas to calculate the effects on the variance of response. Biography: A biostatistician in DuPont Agriculture & Nutrition, Dr. Stanley received his doctorate from Cornell University, where he studied the application of probabilistic modeling to integrated insect pest management. Over his career at DuPont, he has worked as a research entomologist, ecotoxicologist and statistician. He is currently the Biostatistician for Trait Discovery in Crop Genetics Research and Development at the DuPont Experimental Station in Wilmington, Delaware.
