Speaker: Xiao-Yi Li DuPont Crop Genetics Title: Understanding genetic interactions: Epistasis Abstract: Ms. Li will present an overview of epistasis as an important interacting component of the genetic architecture of complex traits. Several statistical models have been developed in uncovering genotype-phenotype associations. She will review a few of these models, provide an example in a practical application and conclude with some limitations and difficulties present in modeling variation in genetic background that causes variation in allelic effects. Biography: Ms. Li is a biostatistician in DuPont Crop Genetics. She received her Masters of Science degree in biostatistics at the University of Michigan where she studied association mapping in type II diabetes. At DuPont, she is involved in various statistical analyses such as association mapping and phenotypic screens.
